New steel-concrete-steel bridge decks promise superior mechanical performance and safety.
A new steel-concrete-steel composite bridge deck system was developed to improve mechanical properties compared to traditional steel decks. Using ANSYS software, researchers created models to analyze the systems. Results show the SCS system has better local bending stiffness under wheel force, balancing stress and preventing large deformations. The stiffness ratio of the SCS system is close to 1.0, improving overall mechanical performance of bridge decks.
