Grass yield in Gansu Province decreasing by nearly 20% since 1985.
Researchers used satellite data and on-the-ground measurements to create models predicting grass yields in different regions of Gansu Province from 2005 to 2009. They found that different types of grassland required different models to accurately predict yields. The total grass yield in 2009 was 3.71830 × 10^7 tons, with the highest yields in Gannan Highland, North Slope of Qilan Mountains, and Longnan. However, compared to 1985, the overall grass yield in Gansu had decreased by 19.34%.
