Land use change in watershed leads to decreased water yield and eco-environment development.
Land use changes in Wangdonggou watershed at the loess plateau in Changwu led to a decrease in farmland and pasture, and an increase in forestland and orchards. This shift caused a reduction in runoff by 5747m^3 in 1996 and is projected to decrease by 5914m^3 in 2010. As a result, water collection decreased, soil water storage increased, and the eco-environment improved over time.
