Seasonal biomass dominance in Honghu Lake's submerged communities revealed!
The community of Ceratophyllum demersum, Potamogeton crispus, and Myriophyllum spicatum in Honghu Lake has the highest seasonal maximum biomass among all submerged vegetation types. Different stands of this community show varied species composition, with C. demersum and P. crispus taking turns as dominant in different seasons. Water flow is key in determining how these populations spread horizontally. Vegetation cover decreases from the water's surface to the lake bottom. While there isn't a strong connection between different species pairs, there is a significant correlation in biomass between some pairs due to water flow and how they spread.
