High levels of heavy metals pose ecological risk in Oujiang River estuary.
The study looked at heavy metal pollution in the Oujiang River estuary. They found high levels of heavy metals near Lingkun Island, but overall the area was not heavily polluted. Arsenic and copper were slightly contaminated, but within safe limits. The potential ecological risk of the heavy metals was evaluated, with mercury posing the highest risk followed by arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, and zinc. Overall, the surface sediments showed a low ecological risk from these heavy metals.
