New technology revolutionizes soil moisture monitoring for sustainable agriculture and climate impact.
The article discusses the importance of monitoring and simulating soil moisture for sustainable land use and water management. Techniques like GIS, RS, and GPS are crucial for monitoring soil moisture. Developed countries use computer networks for data processing, while many developing countries, including China, lag behind. Geo-statistics theory helps analyze soil moisture variability, but research is mostly done on small scales. Integrated non-parameter models combining 3S techniques and Geo-statistics theory are suggested for simulating soil moisture. The study aims to improve soil water research methods in China.
