New Maize Cultivars Boost Yields Dramatically in High-density Planting!
The researchers studied different ways to grow maize to see how it affects the plant's traits and yield. They tested three maize varieties at different planting densities and row spacings. They found that plant height, ear position, stem diameter, and leaf area were influenced by planting density. The yield of two maize varieties was highest at a density of 82,500 plants per hectare in a wide-narrow row planting mode. One variety had a yield of over 15,000 kg per hectare at the same density in an equal row planting mode. These findings show the best way to grow maize for high yields under these specific conditions.
