A new hybrid rice combination called Jieyou 8 was developed by crossing two parent lines. Jieyou 8 has strong disease resistance, good rice quality, and high yield stability. In tests, it outperformed another rice variety by 6.79% in terms of yield. It was approved for cultivation in specific regions in 2007 and 2008. Jieyou 8 can be grown as medium rice in areas with elevations below 800 meters.
