The area has its own hydrocarbon supply and accumulation system, with commercial gas flow found in Cretaceous Shushan river. The thick mudstone of Paleogene acts as a good cap formation for these deposits. Overall, the Wushi Sag shows promise for future exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources.
