Phosphate in Soil Boosts Toxic Cadmium Absorption, Threatening Food Safety.
Phosphate in soil affects how cadmium is absorbed and released. Adding more phosphate increases phosphate absorption, which then affects cadmium absorption. In red soil, more phosphate means more cadmium absorption, while in cinnamon soil, it can either increase or decrease cadmium absorption. The amount of cadmium released from the soil also changes with phosphate levels. This study shows that the interaction between phosphate and cadmium in soil is complex and can vary depending on the type of soil.
