The researchers studied how to switch from high cutting coal mining to top coal caving mining in Buertai Mine. By using a fuzzy judging method, they determined that the new mining technique would work well in the No.4-2 seam. The support strength for the top coal caving mining face was found to be 1.36-1.39 MPa. When put into practice, the new mining method showed normal strata pressure behavior and achieved high production and efficiency.
