The Sanjiang plain wetland in China is crucial for providing food, water, and regulating the climate. Despite drainage and reclamation efforts, the wetlands still play a vital role in water regulation, biodiversity, and climate control. However, due to ongoing destruction, the ecological functions of the wetlands are decreasing. Protecting and restoring the wetlands is urgent to maintain their important ecological services.
