Climate change impacts natural radiation levels in sediment layers, study finds.
The researchers collected sediment samples from a specific area and analyzed them to measure the amount of certain radioactive elements. They found that the dose-rate of the sediment was affected by the size of the grains and changes in climate. The layers with paleoflood slack water deposit had the highest natural dose-rate, while loess layers had the lowest, and soil layers were in between.
