The article discusses the importance of the air separation unit (ASU) in integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plants. It provides high-pressure nitrogen, medium-pressure oxygen, instrument air, and plant air to the gasification unit and gas turbine. The study analyzes and compares four different ASU configurations in IGCC power plants and identifies common malfunctions and how to address them.
