Three Georges Project leads to erosion, sedimentation, and flood risks in Jingjiang River.

The study analyzed water and sediment flow in five tributaries of the Jingjiang River. By widening certain riverways, they redirected floodwaters to prevent backwater effects. For example, in Songzi River, floods now flow through the west branch to avoid issues with the Li River. Similar changes were made in other tributaries like Suzhi River and Hudu River to improve water flow into Dongting Lake.
