Water Footprint Reveals Liupanshui's Alarming Water Scarcity, Urging Urgent Conservation Measures.
The study analyzed water resources in Liupanshui City using water footprint theory. The water footprint increased from 2005 to 2007, then decreased by 2010. Most water was used for agriculture and industry, making up over 96% of total consumption. Water resource usage intensity decreased from 2005 to 2010. The water resource pressure index was high in 2006 and 2010. To secure water resources, actions like developing multiple water sources, improving industrial water recycling, enhancing sewage treatment, and promoting water-saving technologies are recommended.
