Coal reservoir study reveals promising coal bed methane exploration prospects in China.
The study looked at how the physical properties of coal reservoirs in the Huaibei area affect the exploration prospects for coal bed methane. They found that the structure of the coal reservoirs has been shaped by past movements in the Earth's crust. In some areas, like the southern Suxian and Nanping synclines, the conditions are favorable for coal bed methane to migrate, concentrate, and be preserved. However, in places like the Linhuan mining area, the complex coal structure makes exploration difficult. Overall, the eastern part of the southern area shows promise for coal bed methane exploration due to the distribution of coal being controlled by folds.
