Insomnia in Elderly Linked to Worsening Behavior and Diabetes Risk
The study looked at how lack of sleep affects behavior and glucose levels in older rats. They used a method to keep the rats awake for either 4 or 6 hours a day. The rats that didn't sleep much showed more restlessness, increased glucose levels, and changes in insulin levels compared to the well-rested rats. Lack of sleep can alter behavior and glucose metabolism in older rats.
