Heilongjiang's water resources dwindling, ecological footprint soars, urgent action needed to avert crisis.
In Heilongjiang province, a study calculated how much water resources the land can support based on the ecological footprint. Researchers found that from 2003 to 2008, the amount of water available decreased, while the demand for water increased each year. In 2008, the demand for water resources reached its highest level at 0.3117 hectares per person. The study also highlighted reasons for this trend and suggested ways to manage and use water resources more effectively. The findings of the calculation model confirm that the method used to measure the ecological footprint of water resources is reliable, giving valuable insights for making informed decisions about water use in the region.
