National audit is crucial for national governance, but the current approach is too focused on traditional economic oversight. By applying management control theories, a new governance-oriented national audit mode is proposed. This new approach aims to better integrate national audit into national governance by analyzing the relationship between them. The key findings suggest that modernizing the audit process can provide fresh ideas to enhance national audit theory and improve its role in national governance.
