Ancient Marine World Unveiled: Permian Formation Reveals Evolution of Landscapes.
The Wulabo Formation in the Junggar Basin was studied to understand how it formed. By analyzing sediment samples, researchers found that the formation was created during a marine regression, with different environments at different depths. They identified four main types of sedimentary environments: tidal flat, coastal subaqueous fan, braided stream, and alluvial fan. These environments were influenced by the Bogeda intercontinental rift system.
