Vegetation in Ningxia Region Thriving, Increasing Coverage Over 18 Years
Terrestrial vegetation in Ningxia, China has changed over the past 18 years. The study used satellite data to track these changes. They found that vegetation grows from May to October each year, with different peak growth times in different regions. The growing season has increased by 10 days, mainly in spring. Overall, vegetation in Ningxia has been stable or slightly improved since 1982. The central arid area has the lowest vegetation, while the irrigated area and mountainous regions have higher coverage. The Helan Mountains had increasing vegetation until 1988, but it has been decreasing since then.
