A new type of hybrid rice called Xuyou 201 was developed with high yield and good grain quality. It outperformed the comparison hybrid in yield trials and production trials in Jiangsu Province. Xuyou 201 had a yield level of about 9.5 tons per hectare in large-scale production. The grain quality met state standards for fine quality rice. It also showed good resistance to diseases and lodging, and was adaptable to various conditions. Xuyou 201 was officially registered and released in Jiangsu Province in January 2005.
