Soil organic matter is crucial for soil health. A study in Yucheng, Shandong Province looked at how soil organic matter levels changed over time. They found that from 1982 to 2006, soil organic matter content increased significantly due to fertilization and cultivation practices, especially straw returning. Different mathematical models were used to show how soil organic matter varied across the study area.
