The study analyzed changes in land use in Xinjian County, Jiangxi Province from 1991 to 2000 using RS/GIS technology. Results showed a decrease in arable and unused land, an increase in forest and construction land, and stable grassland and water surfaces. Construction land had the highest dynamic degree of change. The overall land use change intensity increased over the study period. The spatial dynamic degree of integrative land use change was lower in the latter phase (1996-2000) compared to the former phase (1991-1996).
