Optimizing fertilizer depth boosts wheat yield and nitrogen efficiency in dry land.
Fertilizing wheat at a depth of 20-40cm in dry land soil helps the plant absorb more nitrogen in the kernels, leading to higher yields. Applying fertilizer too close to the surface or too deep in the soil can have the opposite effect. This study used soil columns to show that the best depth for fertilizer application is 20-40cm to increase wheat yield and nitrogen utilization efficiency.
