New method easily decomposes harmful FGD gypsum pellets, reducing environmental impact.
The study looked at how gypsum pellets from flue gas desulfurization break down. They found that the pellets are hard to decompose without petroleum coke, but easy with it. The best conditions for breaking down the pellets with petroleum coke are a temperature of 1,200 ℃, a time of 30 minutes, a certain ratio of carbon to sulfur, and a pellet size of 5-7 mm.
