A study in Xi'an found a unique third paleosol with 3 layers and 2 loess beds. Analysis showed strong soil development, distinct differences in magnetic properties, organic content, and grain composition between paleosol and loess layers. The period of formation (330-272 ka B.P.) experienced 6 stages of warm humid and cold arid climate changes.
