Landfill leachate treatment is costly, so researchers tested iron carbon-bed technology for treating leachate on a simulation device. After 26 weeks, the technology removed 93.88% of COD, 93.64% of BOD5, and 42.13% of ammonia nitrogen from the leachate. The BOD5/COD ratio also improved. Compared to other methods, the iron carbon-bed technology showed better results in treating landfill leachate.
