The study looked at how water flow and sediment movement changed in the Jingjiang River and Dongting Lake after the Three Gorges Reservoir was built. The amount of sediment being diverted decreased a lot, but the flow of water didn't change much. The amount of sediment reaching Dongting Lake increased a lot in some years.
