Benthic algae communities in Yunnan plateau lakes were studied, showing different compositions in each lake. Green algae dominated in most lakes, while diatoms were prevalent in Lake Luguhu. Lake Xingyunhu had the highest algae standing crops, and Lake Luguhu-Niaodao had the highest diatom density. Specific diatom species were dominant indicators in different lakes. Environmental factors like nutrients, sunlight, and substrate types played a crucial role in determining community distribution.
