The Paleogene strata in the Dahonggou region of the Qaidam Basin show a sequence of sedimentary layers from alluvial fan to shallow lake. The researchers identified six main sedimentary sequences and twenty-seven smaller sequences based on sedimentary facies and lake level changes. This study helps us understand how the landscape evolved in this region over millions of years.
