Towns in Shanxi Flourished Along Rivers During Jin Dynasty.
During the Jin Dynasty, towns in Shanxi developed and thrived along the Hutuo River and Fen River, from northeast to southwest. These towns were mainly concentrated at the ends and sparse in the central area. They were rebuilt from barriers and barbacks in the Song Dynasty, with a focus on military functions. Despite their large numbers, these towns did not experience significant economic growth beyond their basic prosperity.
