Optimizing tillering fertilizer application boosts rice yield and quality for farmers.
Applying fertilizer at different times after planting affects the growth and yield of rice. In this study, they looked at how applying fertilizer at 7, 10, or 13 days after planting affected the grain yield of early and late rice varieties. They found that applying fertilizer at day 10 resulted in lower grain yield for both types of rice, while applying at day 13 led to even lower yields for late rice. The number of grains per plant and seed setting rate were also affected by the timing of fertilizer application. Overall, applying fertilizer right after the plants turn green is best for improving rice quality and achieving high yields.
