Economic growth drives significant land use changes in Jinjiang City.
The study analyzed land use changes in Jinjiang City from 1996 to 2001 using GIS technology and grey correlation theory. The findings show that cultivated land, forest land, and un-used land decreased significantly, while water bodies, built-up land, and orchards increased. Economic factors were found to be the main driver of these changes, followed by population factors, and then technological factors. Regional differences were observed, with un-used land and orchards showing more variation compared to cultivated land, built-up land, and forest land. The study also highlighted the importance of policy interventions in influencing land use changes.
