Soybean Farmers in South China Boost Yields with Optimal Sowing Dates
The researchers studied when to plant soybeans in South China to get the best yield and quality. They tested three types of soybeans in Guangzhou at different times. They found that planting from mid-June to early July is best. As planting gets later, the yield and quality decrease. Late July planting needs more plants and water to protect them. One type of soybean, Huaxia 3, grows more seeds on branches than on the main stem when planted at the right time. To get more seeds, plant this type at a certain density.
