New study reveals impact of hydrodynamic conditions on delta sand bodies.
The study looked at different types of deltas in a lake and how they are shaped by different forces like waves and rivers. They found that there are four main types of deltas based on the strength of these forces. The sand bodies in these deltas mainly consist of underwater channels, river mouth bars, and sheet sands. The width/thickness ratio of these sand bodies varies between the different types of deltas. River mouth bars are a bit of a mystery in terms of their shape compared to the other sand bodies.
