Shade boosts plant growth: Rhododendron thrives in lower light levels!
Different light intensities were tested on Rhododendron 'Furnivall's Daughter' to see how it affects photosynthesis. The plant was grown under four light levels, and it was found that moderate shade improved photosynthesis. Lower light levels led to changes in chlorophyll content, with chlorophyll b increasing while chlorophyll a decreased. The plant adapted to light changes by adjusting its photosynthetic efficiency and chlorophyll levels. Overall, 30% of full sunlight was the best light intensity for optimal growth of Rhododendron 'Furnivall's Daughter'.
