Organic fertilizers boost soil fertility and protect agro-ecosystems long-term.
A study on Lou soil found that using organic fertilizer or a mix of organic and chemical fertilizers can increase soil carbon and nitrogen levels. The combination of organic and chemical fertilizers had the strongest effect. High levels of organic fertilizer or a mix of organic and chemical fertilizers also increased soil nitrogen content. Low levels of fertilizer or no fertilizer decreased soil nitrogen content. Overall, using organic manure over time improved soil fertility and protected the soil agro-ecological system.
