Constructed wetlands outperform in purifying eutrophic water bodies, improving water quality.
Constructed wetlands were studied for treating polluted water at a wildlife center. The wetlands removed more phosphorus than nitrogen, with removal rates of 55% for phosphorus and 42% for nitrogen. Water temperature and oxygen levels affected the removal efficiency, with higher temperatures and lower oxygen levels improving purification. Overall, the constructed wetlands were more effective at removing pollutants compared to other methods, showing they can help clean up polluted water bodies.
