Steam Explosion Treatment Boosts Corn Sugar Content by Nearly 5%! 🌽🔥
The researchers studied how steam explosion treatment affects the extraction of reducing sugar from corn spermoderm. By varying pressure, time, and moisture content, they found that using 1.0 MPa pressure, 20 seconds of time, and 23.76% moisture content resulted in the highest yield of reducing sugar. Under these conditions, the corn spermoderm degraded, producing 49.98% reducing sugar, compared to 45.1% without steam explosion. This shows that steam explosion treatment can increase the amount of reducing sugar extracted from corn spermoderm, making the process more efficient.
