New bridge design revolutionizes transportation with dual railway and roadway decks.
The Zhengzhou Huanghe River Rail-cum-Road Bridge features innovative designs for its structure and construction. It consists of two continuous units: a steel truss composite girder cable-stayed bridge and a steel truss composite girder bridge. The upper deck carries a six-lane roadway, while the lower deck supports a double-track high-speed railway. A unique inclined truss structure is used for the main bridge, with the roadway deck composed of precast concrete slabs and steel trusses. The railway deck is designed as an integral orthotropic steel deck without stringers. The pylons are rigidly fixed with the steel truss girders, and single plane stay cables are anchored in the upper chords of the main truss structure. The steel truss girders of the bridge are erected using the incremental launching method.
