Landform Impact: Soil Evolution Reveals Key to Fighting Desertification
The study looked at how different landforms affect the soil in a slope field covered with sand. Samples were collected from different areas in Yinmaquan watershed. The soil texture, moisture content, and organic matter were measured. The findings showed that soil texture and clay content can indicate the level of desertification. Soil moisture varied with different landform positions, with a balanced depth for water movement. Higher clay content meant richer soil fertility and more moisture. Water, fertilizer, and organic matter were more effective at the bottom of the slope. The results suggest that landforms play a significant role in soil processes like mellowing, degradation, erosion, and desertification.
