The researchers tested different methods to help castor seeds germinate better. They tried treating the seeds with cold temperatures, soaking them in hot water, using hormones, and using chemicals. The seeds treated with low temperatures at 4℃ for 10 days had the highest germination rate of 71.67%. Seeds treated with 50 mg·L-1 GA3 hormone had the highest germination rate of 90%. And seeds treated with 10 mg·L-1 HgCl2 chemical had the highest germination rate of 91.86%.
