A study monitored the Miyun reservoir watershed for 5 years and found that annual precipitation was highest in June to August, making up 70-80% of the total. Soil moisture varied with precipitation, and as vegetation coverage increased, runoff and sediment yields decreased. Water quality in the watershed mostly met government standards, except for high levels of total nitrogen and phosphorus.
