The study looked at how using straw to cover the soil affects the growth and yield of winter wheat in eastern China. The researchers found that using straw mulch improved the soil quality, made nutrients more available, and helped the soil retain water better. This created better conditions for the wheat to grow, leading to a significant increase in wheat yields by 28.23%.
