Climate warming leads to decreased runoff in Yarlung Zangbo River Basin.
The study analyzed climate and runoff changes in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin from 1956 to 2010. It found that the area is warming, with temperatures increasing by 0.31°C every 10 years. Precipitation and runoff trends are closely linked, with runoff being mainly influenced by precipitation. The study also showed that runoff is affected by both temperature and precipitation throughout the year, with runoff being highest from June to November due to precipitation, and higher than expected in other months due to river feeding. As the area warms and becomes wetter, factors other than precipitation are increasingly affecting runoff.
