Citizens' involvement in policy making can help fix government failures, improve public policy, and strengthen the impact of policies. However, there are challenges like a weak civil society, lack of citizen participation awareness, limited participation methods, and a dilemma in political responsibility. To make citizen participation more than just a formality, changes are needed in the system and ways citizens can take part in policy making.
