New steel bridge design revolutionizes construction control for large spans.
The researchers studied how to control the closure of a steel box girder on the Oujiang Grand Bridge. They focused on the challenges of building a long span hybrid girder structure and analyzed the differences in design and construction compared to traditional concrete bridges. By examining the combined steel and concrete sections, they developed a method to predict installation elevation accurately. They also determined the correct steel processing line and analyzed the temperature effects during closure to ensure precise construction of the steel box girder.
