The study analyzed problems with flood control, bank usage, and river stability in the Xinjizhou Reach of the Yangtze River at Nanjing City. By comparing two regulation schemes using mathematical and physical models, the researchers identified an optimal plan to improve river stability and flood control in the area and downstream.
